Sir John Hill, M.D.
John Hill's accomplishments are well documented in the premier reference by Mr. Dunthorne. The following engravings are from The British Herbal, of which a portion of the title page is seen above. There are from 6 to 18 different herbs on each page. The ones listed below have been colored by a professional colorist in Rome, Italy. They were published in black and white, London, 1757. They are fascinating plates and would be eminently appropriate in any room in the house, singly or in groups. The colors are basically green, with some other colors mixed in. We also have many other uncolored engravings from this series which we can scan and send to you via e-mail to choose from on request. The uncolored plates are each $125. We're going to name the plate numbers below and you can click on 4 to view them. They all approximately measure 14¾" high by 9" wide. They are all in fine condition and very lightly time-toned.
