In 1768 Duhamel du Monceau produced a very complete book of copperplate engraved fruit entitled Traite des Arbres Fruiters. They all have the mature fruit plus the blossom of the fruit. They are all the same size, 9" x 8" with generous margins of 1½". Monceau had several engravers, they were Hanssard, Loyer, Poletnich and Dupuis. They are all very lightly time-toned and some have negligible smudging in the clear margin. None of the plates are foxed or discolored. They are all in the "fine" category. See Dunthorne 100.

The following trio of engravings, also by Duhamel du Monceau, were found in his Traite des Arbres Fruitiers 1808-30. Dunthorne classifies them as the very finest stipple engravings. The engravers used by Monceau also engraved Empress Josephine's famous series of Roses by Redoute. The artist on each of these engravings was Poiteau and the engraver was Pouque and Bocourt. They were published by the firm of Langlois. Each plate shows the fruit as it grows, the seed, the bud and the blossom. They measure 12" high by 10½" wide. See Dunthorne 101.
