H.A. Ogden
In 1885, the Quartermaster General of the United
States Army published a series of extraordinary chromolithographs, recording
the Army uniforms from colonial days to the year 1885. The foremost artist
specializing in military subjects, H.A. Ogden, was selected to prepare the
several prints. The lithography was accomplished by G.H. Buek & Company,
NY and published by B.M. Whitlock, also of New York City. One of the foremost
examples of this uniform portfolio depicts Gen. George Washington mounted
on his grey horse and conferring with his staff officers and aides-de-camp.
This work is printed on very sturdy off-white card material. The dimensions
are 14” high by 11½” wide. Although there is a faint water
stain in the left clear margin, this would not be seen once the print was
matted. PRICE: $325

NOTE: The color variation in the center of this
image does not reflect the actual apperance of the print.
This was an unfortuante reflection from the
flash of the camera.
